Our objective with regard to the climate
The effects of climate change affect everyone.By 2021, we aim to cut our emissions by 40% from 2013 levels. To accomplish this goal, we have established a precise plan outlining the steps that need to be taken.
Our animation shows the activities that result in CO2 emissions as well as the steps we are doing to cut them.
Preserving the climate in our stores
Since our warehouses have the most potential to reduce emissions, we implement many of the climate conservation measures in our stores there. For instance, many retail buildings now have photovoltaic panels mounted on their rooftops. Thanks to its installations, we have already produced almost 23,000 MWh in 2017, which is equivalent to 5,800 households’ annual use.We have only used LED technology in all of our newly constructed and renovated locations since 2016. Compared to the lighting that is already in use, this sort of lighting uses up to 50% less electricity.
Global solutions for deep freezing and refrigeration are offered by LED technology. It enables lower heat production and hence lower electricity use as compared to other lighting options.Of course, we exclusively utilize energy-efficient frozen cabinets with technology to collect heat generated during cooling in our new stores. We further reduce our energy use by using this heat to heat our stores.
The foundation of our climate preservation plan is refrigerant gases. Although they are necessary for refrigeration, they may leak. We employ cutting-edge technologies to lessen their atmospheric emissions because of this. Additionally, we are progressively switching to greener refrigerant gases in place of the ones that are already in use.
Our Goal For Covid-19
The coronavirus pandemic has caused shortages and disruptions in the supply chain for vital medical supplies, equipment, and other resources required to combat COVID-19. We assist customers in finding the supplies they require.
